Like many of you, there are sooooo many places that I want to visit. There are only so many places you can get to within a year though if you don’t have the means to travel full time. I’m not yet there (I’m working on it though!) so I have to narrow down my wishlist for the year. If you read my last blog post about my 2020 goals, then you know that traveling and traveling solo was one of my goals for this year. These are some of the places I’m hoping will help me reach that goal!
I have wanted to visit Maine for quite a long time. I’ve heard so many good things about the state and a lot of book/tv shows I like have been set there. One of the major things that draws me to Maine is that there are both mountains and ocean. Two things that I love! I’d specifically like to visit Acadia National Park. A couple other things that have sparked my interest about the state are the Steven King tours and the International Cryptozoology Museum. I love nerdy activities.
I’ve been to Minnesota a handful of times since I grew up 4 hours from Minneapolis, but there are a few specific things that I have been wanting to experience in the state. First off, the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. So many people have told me that it is one of the best and I am a lover of Renn faires, so of course I have to go! The other event that I’m wanting to attend is the Scandinavian Hjemkomst & Midwest Viking Festival
I’ve been to St. Louis many times and have driven through it even more, but I have never visited the Gateway Arch. I finally want to see it up close this year! I also really enjoyed all of the museums and the zoo there and would love to visit them again since it’s been a few years.
I’m a huge fan of hiking and there are so many beautiful places to explore in Colorado. Also, I’ve been eyeing the super cheap plane tickets from Des Moines to Denver. You can’t beat $70-80 roundtrip tickets, I can’t pass that up!
Those are some of the destinations at the top of my list. While I’m saving for a big trip to Europe I’ll be exploring the good ‘ol USA. Do you have a favorite place to visit in the US? What’s on your travel wish list for 2020?
