Welcome to the new and improved Wistful and Wandering blog! I’ve had this blog for a handful of years but I’ve never been great at posting consistently, whoops! In this new chapter of my life I want to really dive into blogging again so I’ve switched my hosting to WordPress and revamped my website entirely.
The past couple months my life has again seen some big changes so it felt right for me to completely change the blog as well. In May I decided that my time in Nashville was at an end and I decided to move back to Des Moines, Iowa. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Nashville! It’s a really great city full of so many artistic people, fascinating history, beautiful nature, and some really great food. With that said, none of that matters if you’re not happy living there. After two years there I found that I just wasn’t happy with it being my full time home so I decided to change that and move back to Iowa.
Nashville was a really draining city for me personally, especially in the area of creativity. That was a huge problem for me because all of the work I do is creative. Not a great mixture when you’re trying to make a living! Since moving away from Nashville I’m happy to say that my creativity has slowly been coming back to me, which is a huge relief. Being an extremely creative person and feeling so stuck creatively at the same time is a horrible feeling and one I hope I don’t have to deal with much more in my life time. Fingers crossed!
Now that I’m back in Des Moines I’m finally starting to feel settled again. Hopefully by the end of the week I will find out if I get the amazing apartment I’ve applied for. If I do, I will be moving into downtown Des Moines to an awesome historic artist loft. Super excited about it! I still have no idea exactly what I’m doing with my life, who does, but at the moment I’ve decided that Des Moines will be my home base. Traveling and experiencing other cultures is always something I’ve loved to do and while living in Nashville I just wasn’t able to do that because of the rising cost of living there. Being back in DSM will hopefully allow me to travel a lot more and just enjoy life! It’s way too short to spend it being unhappy. I refuse to do that!
This blog will be my little space on the internet to share my travels and everyday life with you all. Even if nobody reads it, journaling is extremely cathartic for me and this is simply just my public journal! I do hope though that my experiences traveling and living life will help to encourage and inspire others to explore the world around them and live joyful lives.
First up on travel will be a guide to visiting Nashville so keep your eyes peeled for that. This weekend I will be traveling down to Kansas City for the Chief’s training camp with my family and also to celebrate my 25th birthday, which is next week, so I’ll have a post up for Kansas City as well in the coming weeks!
Where is your favorite place to travel?? Let me know in the comments, I’m always looking for new places to visit!
Love ya heaps,
Jacey
