Living With Less

Last October I wrote a blog post titled Striving For Simplicity, which you can read here. I had really great intentions going into last winter, but I didn't quite execute them the way I really wanted to.  I still believe everything that I wrote in that post and want to live my daily life that way, but life distracted me and it was put on the back burner the past year.  2018 has been a busy year with working towards starting up my new business [ Runa Creative Co. if you haven't checked it out yet :) ], and just working in general.  Now I haven't completely failed in my venture to live a more simple life.  I have saved a good chunk of money, I've also had a lot of expenses though, and have had a lot of really great experiences.  My goal though starting this fall is to take that to the next level.

Compared to a lot of people it probably doesn't seem like I have a ton of possessions, but I will be the first to admit that I'm a collector of knick knacks and I do love to get new clothes.  My closet is packed full though and it just seems so cluttered.  I would really like to slowly make my way to becoming a minimalist and I think a major area I need to tackle is my wardrobe.  There are pieces of clothing that have been sitting in my closet for over a year and haven't been worn.  How many times can I say, "oh, I might need that in the future!" before it gets ridiculous? I'm thinking I surpassed that awhile ago! Since they're just taking up space I'm cleaning them out! I've started selling some of my clothing and accessories if you want to check them out, https://www.mercari.com/u/233837126/
Selling unused possessions helps me out twofold.  One, I'm decluttering, and two, adding money to my travel fund!
Since I now work from my computer I have the freedom to make my own schedule and work from anywhere.  My dreams of traveling can now be realized, which I'm super pumped about. I obviously have to have the money to actually do that, but you better believe I'm working hard to get there!
So far on the calendar I have a couple trips back to Iowa to visit the family planned and I'm in the beginning stage of planning a trip to Seattle in the spring to visit a friend.  On a smaller scale though I'm going camping next week! I'm so excited! I grew up camping with my family, but I haven't been in a few years and I miss it so much.  I've got my tent and hiking boots all ready to go and I can't wait to get out there.  As much as I appreciate technology, I love to unplug from everything and spend time off the grid.  The campground I'll be at is next to a river so I'm hoping for some beautiful foggy mornings to take pictures.  If you thought my camera would stay at home, you're crazy, that thing will always be with me when going on an adventure!
There you have it folks, a little update on my long long road to minimalist living.  I will get there slowly but surely!
Is anyone else on this journey as well?

Be Wistful and Wander,
Jacey
